Description

Description: The Hotel Saratoga is an elegant colonial building in the Historical Centre of Havana, one of the world’s most stylish cities. It has a spectacular view of the Capitolio and Fraternity Park, of the renowned Partagas Cigar Factory, of Cuba’s principal opera house, the Gran Teatro de La Habana, and of the Paseo del Prado as it sweeps down to the sea. The hotel was originally built on this site in the 1930s and became a favourite haunt of artists and socialites from all over the world. The current building, recreated behind the Saratoga’s historic façade, combines the exquisite style of the original with up-to-the-minute technology to ensure superlative service and comfort for guests. It has breathtaking panoramic views of Havana’s port and skyline.

The Hotel Saratoga is Old Havana’s grandest hotel, having been carefully designed for especially discerning travellers who wish to combine cultural and historical exploration of the city with enjoyment of its world-famous nightlife.

Rooms: The 96 rooms and suites at the Saratoga have the elegant proportions one would expect of a nineteenth century hotel. Many of them have elegant mahogany shutters and French doors which open onto ornate iron balconies. The tranquil effect is heightened by crisp white bedlinen and cool tiled floors. The bathrooms are decorated in Cuban marble. All rooms have 24 hour room service, TV, DVD, CD, Minibar, Telephone, Internet connection and access to the CD and DVD libraries in the hotel.

Havana Suites
Elegant corner suites, with high ceilings. They have a large bedroom with four-poster king-size bed, ceiling to floor windows and French doors, and balconies. The bathrooms have independent showers and baths, and each suite has a large drawing room with a bar area. They have magnificent views of the city. Both suites have connecting doors to adjacent rooms, which convert them for family use.

Capitolio Suites
Smaller than Havana suites, but these also have large bedrooms with king-size beds, bathrooms with independent baths and showers and large sitting rooms. They overlook the Capitolio building.

Prado Suites
The three large Prado suites are split-level, with a bedroom (with king-size bed) and bathroom upstairs and a sitting/dining room downstairs. The upper level overlooks the lower one, and floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies give wonderful views of the city.

Saratoga Rooms
The Saratoga Rooms have excellent views of the Capitol building and Fraternity Park, and those on the top floor have panoramic views of the Havana skyline. Those with high ceilings are colonial in style, having four-poster king-size beds with Mexican decorative hangings and Italian bedlinen. The modernist Saratoga Rooms have window seats which extend right along one side of the room; these are luxuriously cushioned for long, lazy afternoons watching the activity in the square below.

Rooms with interior views
All floors have rooms facing into the central courtyard. They are decorated in pastel colours with mahogany furniture, Spanish tiled floors, queen-size beds and Italian bedlinen.

Dining: In the 30s the hotel was a famous meeting-place for artists, politicians and socialites. The restaurant, the bars and the mezzanine drawing room of the Saratoga maintain this tradition, with their sophisticated yet informal colonial decorative style. The eighth floor swimming pool is reserved for the use of hotel guests.

Anacaona Restaurant
Named after the famous all-girl orchestra which used to play at the hotel, the restaurant is decorated in Andalucian style with Moorish arches, carved wooden screens and soft lighting. The cuisine is a contemporary blend of Cuban and Caribbean culinary styles. Breakfast, luncheon and dinner are available at the Anacaona.

Ground Floor Bar
This bar adjoins the Anacaona Restaurant. The room is decorated with carved mahogany, stained glass and tropical plans, and is sensitively lit. It serves all the traditional Cuban cocktails and the best of our famous cigars. This area also functions as an Espresso Bar in the morning, where guests can enjoy croissants baked in the hotel kitchens, drink their coffee and read the newspaper.

Mezzanine Lounge and Bar
Reserved for the exclusive use of hotel guests, this is the place to see and be seen. The evocative murals of the Cuban countryside, the balcony which overlooks the grand entrance and hall, and our exotic orchid collection, may all be enjoyed whilst taking tea, a light lunch or cocktails. In the adjacent Cigar Lounge, you may sample the best of our famous brands or have a cigar rolled for you.

Facilities and Services: Pool Terrace: The pool terrace on the eighth floor has 360º views of the city and the sea. Light lunches include pizzas and bread direct from our own wood oven, barbecued steaks and tapas. This area may be hired for private dinners or parties. In the spa and gym one may obtain everything from a manicure or massage to a full cardio-vascular test and exercise programme designed by our personal trainers.

Exploration:
The Hotel Saratoga is a short walk away from all Havana’s principal cultural attractions. The rest of the city may be seen on foot, from a horse-drawn carriage or in a classic car. We are happy to reserve the best seats at the opera or ballet, or at Havana’s legendary cabarets the Parisien and the Tropicana, for our guests. We also arrange excursions to the countryside, the beach, tobacco plantations or the 18 hole golf course at Varadero.
