Trinidad & Beyond
Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Guama, Bay of Pigs, Santa Clara, Remedios.
Declared a World Heritage site in 1988 along with the Valle de los Ingenios,
Trinidad's beautifully restored houses and cool, tiled, colonial courtyards
combine perfectly with a stupendous natural setting - wedged spectacularly
between the Sierra del Escambray and the Caribbean - to create a scene of
unrivalled ambience. Only 15minutes away from Trinidad, you will find a
beautiful beach with just three beach hotels.
Cienfuegos is easily reached either by bus or car from Havana via the
Autopista. This small town retains a palpable French flavour and with its
touched up buildings and congenial hustle-free street-life it provides
visitors a glimpse of Cuban culture at its most intimate. Cienfuegos is just
75kms from Trinidad.
Guama & Bay of Pigs: Guama is located in the heart of Zapata Peninsula and
is recommended especially for nature enthusiasts. Guama Hotel is situated on
an islet in the Treasure Lake. From the hotel you can also rent boats, go on
bird-watching or hiking tours or visit a nearby crocodile breeding farm. Bay
of Pigs ( Playa Larga & Playa Giron ) is most popular for its wonderful
diving sites.
Santa Clara is an authentic Cuban town and is most popular for being the
resting place of Che Guevara.
Remedios is a charming Cuban traditional village and getaway to Cayo Santa
Maria, Cayo Las Brujas and Cayo Ensenachos.
